May 31st, later

The Tacoma Farmer's Market is a great place to hang out on Thursdays. Variety is the name of the game: food--Mexican, Thai, Southern, German, Japanese, etc. . . .Jewelry--ankle bracelets (I bought one, of course), rings, bracelets, necklaces, . . . .Plants--I'm not very good at identifying flowers yet, but colorful flowers everywhere I looked--and the different vases and pots to put them in. I found a hanging vase that I wanted, but it has to be attached to the wall somehow, and I can't see my husband really embracing that idea--putting a nail into our outside wall. People--business types, students, moms with kids, teenagers, . . .And all manner of clothing--from shorts to slacks, skirts to dresses, suits to flip-flops. Just wanted to write about this because I want to describe things--I see the pictures in my head; I'm just not very good at translating the pictures to paper--to take the reader there, taking a walk with me down the street, looking at all of the different displays; listening to all of the people talking about what they sell and the customers listening to their ideas. I bought this ankle bracelet because the man that was selling it was very nice and interesting, and he told a story about it, how it came to be. His wife made one or two for herself, so he encouraged her to make more to sell. Very pretty--silver with different colored stones on each one. Plus a different charm on each one--mine has a ladybug. It's funny why we end up buying one thing over another. If my friend and I hadn't stopped to look at those bracelets, and if the man had been talking to someone else, chances are that I wouldn't have bought it at all. Funny.

My first attempt at blogging. I wonder if I am too old to start this high-tech writing thing. Oh, well, it may be time to take the plunge. I don't really know what to write at this point, just thoughts on what's going on in the world, about life in general--philosophies, ideas. . . .My overall feeling is that if other people can do this, so can I. --More later
